Four Tips for Camping with Your Dog

We’re excited to welcome a new line of products in our store. Dog is Good offers apparel and gifts perfect for any dog lover. In honor of this new line of products, we thought we would share some of our top tips for camping with your dog. For a lot of our customers, their dog is a beloved member of the family – and a frequent camper! Here are a few ways you can make sure your pet feels at home in your RV.

  1. Make sure your camper has a spacious, open floor plan.

Some campers are better suited for furry companions. Not only do you need to make sure there is sizable square footage, you want to make sure the space is optimized well for your pup to move around.

  2. Opt for flooring that is pet-friendly.

When you’re camping, your dog will probably be spending a lot of time outdoors with you. You want to make sure they don’t track in too much dirt that can leave stains and odors in your carpeting. Laminate is becoming increasingly popular in a lot of RVs, and it’s much easier to clean than traditional carpeting. You’ll be able to keep your RV in great condition, even when your pet might be needing a bath.

  3. Class A’s and Class C’s are great options for pets, especially when you’re driving.

If you’re bringing the whole family on a trip, finding a place to keep your dog on the way to your destination can be difficult. Many travel trailers and fifth wheels with push-out slides can get pretty cramped when they’re not expanded.Class A’s and Class C’s are roomy so your pet can be just as comfortable as you on your trip. As a bonus, you’ll be able to check on your dog while you’re driving.

  4. Keep a close eye on access ramps and stairs so your pup to get in and out of the camper easily.

Some stairs might be a little more challenging for small dogs to master, and you may want to opt for a ramp. We also recommend purchasing some step stabilizers to make your dog feel more confident entering and exiting your RV.

Bringing a dog on the road can making camping much more fun. These are just a few ways you can create a better experience for you and your pup. Be sure to check out our new Dog is Good merchandise.
